Creating Change that lasts — Personal Power Mastery

What if your changes are not working?

If your changes are not working as you wish or you feel stuck I have found that there are generally six things that you might want to look at and possibly alter.

Motive

This is the most common reason why most attempts to change don’t work. If you are looking to create lasting change in your life they must be attached to your highest values. As you determine how change is tied to your highest desires you will have power to stay committed to the changes you are trying to make. Often people fail to make and sustain changes because they are based on how they think they should be to please others or they are asked to change by others. As I shared above you need own it in order to change it. You will never own a change unless you see purpose or value in doing so.

Strategy

Often a person may have great intentions and strong desires to make a change that resonates with heir highest value — but they still fail. Often this is a result of following incorrect strategies. As discussed above success is based on following a specific set of laws that correspond to the outcome you are wanting to create.

Speed

Speed of implementations can sometimes be the reason changes do not work. Believe it or not most often he problem with speed isn’t going too slow but going too fast. I have seen many of the students who have attending my seminars crash and burn so o speak because they have been to quick and aggressive to make changes and ended up not building a sustainable foundation.

Too much

Focusing on too much and biting off more than you can chew can also prevent you creating the changes that you want to make. Try and take on change one day at a time and focus on making changes in manageable moments not colossal shifts. Big power most often appears in small changes.

Travelling companions

While I am not directly refer to people that are influencing you there are generally the ones who make the biggest difference. If you want to level up your life you must level up the people you share it with. Later in the book we will talk in more detail about networks, relationships and influence. But for now all I’m going to say is if change isn’t happening as quickly as you’d like take a look at all of the above.

Direction

Sometimes the biggest challenges with the changes you re trying to create is that they are taking you in the wrong direction. We talked earlier about the outcomes you want in your life. What we didn’t stress is the importance of authenticity. If you are pursuing something that isn’t authentic to you it will be difficult. Creating changes that are fundamentally different than what you sincerely and authentically are and you will experience resistance and difficulty. Take a careful look at what you really want and the most important answer to that questions will always come from within you rather than an external source. Wrong direction always creates challenges creating or maintaining changes.

One definition I saw about change was interesting. It is an ongoing process of evolving into what you’ll leave behind. Because by the time you get there you’ll be gone changing and leaving that behind too. It reminds me of how a caterpillar metomorphiszes into the butterfly. The cocoon which is left behind is a symbol of the change that has taken place.

Look at who you are today. This is who you are going to leave behind. The best is yet to come.
